MISSION STATEMENT

The Scarsdale Forum, a New York not-for-profit volunteer organization in existence since 1904, is dedicated to serving the Village of Scarsdale and Mamaroneck Strip community through its educational and charitable mission.  The Forum and its members, who are representative of every neighborhood, are committed to providing a platform for meaningful community dialogue about municipal, school and related civic affairs.  Forum activities and committee work afford members a variety of opportunities to be informed, to express personal views and to become involved in addressing the issues, choices and solutions that directly impact our community.

Most committees of the Forum study substantive issues within their scope, produce reports for approval by the Forum membership, and submit their feedback and recommendations to elected public officials, Village government and the Scarsdale School District for further consideration and action.  The focus of committee work is to help residents to become more involved in and empowered to contribute to civic life as part of a collaborative, inclusive community where all opinions, ideas and friendships are valued.

Through its numerous public forums, membership meetings, and Sunday Speaker series, the Scarsdale Forum provides educational programming featuring policy updates from elected officials in all levels of county, state and federal government, expert panels on hot topics, and speakers of note, all preceded by a reception with refreshments and ending with public questions and answer opportunities.
