Privacy Policy Statement

General Privacy Policy
The Scarsdale Forum, Inc. (SF) collects personal information for use in running the club. This information is required to perform club functions such as mailing and e-mailing of newsletters.

SF collects name, address, phone number, and other optional information such as, but not limited to, e-mail address, and committee affiliations. The SF Office Manager is responsible for the collection, maintenance, and accuracy of all personal information collected in association with membership activities by SF. SF does not release personal information or email addresses to third parties. SF shares the following personal information of members with other club members: name, year joined the SF and contribution level by means of a published roster in September of each year.

E-mail addresses are not distributed to members, but a member may contact another member via e-mail using a mechanism on the web site that does not disclose the recipient's e-mail address. If a member chooses to use this mechanism, the contacted member will see the sender's e-mail address.

All personal information given to the club is deemed to be public to other club members, except passwords. Passwords are encrypted and known only to the originating member and not by SF or any other person. Personal information is never given to the general public. SF may aggregate membership information for public release, but would not release any personally identifying information.

Opt-out options
Members can request that SF not disclose their personal information to other SF members, or any other groups, by checking the appropriate boxes on the membership application or on the web site or by contacting the Office Manager. Former members that do not want SF to retain their personal information should contact the Office Manager.

Online data security
SF keeps certain personally identifiable information on our web server, which is connected to the Internet. This information is backed up daily to a machine in Westchester County. Generally accepted industry standards are followed to protect the personal information submitted, both during transmission and after receipt. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while best practices are used to protect personal information, its absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Web site issues
When anyone accesses the web site, certain information is gathered automatically and stored in log files. This information includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. This information does not identify individual users. It is used to analyze trends, to administer the site, and to determine web site usage. This automatically collected data is not linked to personally identifiable information. Analysis of this information is not shared with any other party.

Cookie policy
SF uses cookies on our web site. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. The information stored in cookies is linked to per personally identifiable information sent while on the site. Both session ID cookies and persistent cookies are used. Session cookies are used to make it easier to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when one exits web-browsing software. A persistent cookie remains on one's hard drive for an extended period of time. If one agrees to allow any mechanism on the SF site to "remember username" and/or "remember password," it is stored in a persistent cookie on the users computer that includes user name and password in plain text. SF recommends the use of a unique password for the SF (not the same password used on other sites). The cookie will be deleted if one chooses not to remember user name and password. Persistent cookies can be deleted by following directions provided by the manufacturer of the web-browsing software. If a browser is configured to reject cookies, certain areas of the site, may not work. 

No third parties are allowed to read or write cookies associated with our site. No third parties write their own cookies on individual computers during visits to the site.

Advertising
Advertising is not allowed on the site.

Links to other sites
The SF web site contains links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by SF. Please be aware that SF is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such other sites. Members are encouraged to be aware when leaving the SF site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. 

This privacy statement applies only to information collected by this web site. 

Changes in this privacy statement
If the SF changes the privacy policy, the changes will be posted to this privacy statement.

The SF reserves the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it regularly. If material changes are made to this policy, they will be reflected in this statement, and members will be notified by means including but not limited to e-mail, our newsletter, and/or a notice on the home page.
